ABOUT SOUTHWOOD NZ

Southwood NZ Limited is a family owned sawmill located in sunny Motueka at the top of the South Island in New Zealand.  The company began in 1987 as Southwood Milling and charged its name to  Southwood NZ Limited in 2010. 

Our team is headed up by the Managing Director, Lincoln McGaveston.  The Operations Manager, Matthew Senior, looks after the sawmill operation and pallet manufacture.  Elaine and Justine, working in the office, keep the accounts, dispatch, and export documentation running smoothly.

We have a sound reputation for producing very high-quality NZ Pine (Pinus Radiata) timber products.  The timber is marketed throughout New Zealand, America, Canada, Australia and Asia.

 
Our aim is to supply the best quality clear and tight knot wood to the marketplace.  We supply kiln dried rough sawn timber to wholesalers and builders merchants alike. Our experienced knowledgeable team have the expertise to match any profile required and have the capability to do anything from simple D4S to decking, architrave, skirtings and weatherboard.  

We can supply untreated or treated (LOSP or CCA H3.2) timber, treatment is carried out via an outside treatment plant, once the timber has been produced to specification, and is then freighted to its destination.

We also have another facet to our business which is the production and supply of pallets and bins to wholesale wine and seed merchants in and around the South Island.  Pallets can be produced in a standard HT Chep style or to your specification.
This site is also ISPM certified which means we meet all bio-security requirements for importing countries.  With this certification we can supply export pallets stamped with the required ISPM certification mark, heat treatment declarations can be supplied to accompany your other export documentation.

Exports are another area of our business and we have experience exporting timber to Australian, Canada, USA and various Asian markets.  We are New Zealand Customs approved in the Secure Export Scheme and also a Ministry for Prime Industries approved organisation for Phytosanitary inspection, documentation and activities associated with the use of certification mark for wood packaging (ISPM15).
